BALTIMORE – Oceantic Network, in partnership with SeaAhead, today announced the participants of Startup Alley at the 2025 International Partnering Forum (IPF), which provides a platform for the most innovative startups in offshore renewable energy to pitch their business innovations. This year, seven start-up companies whose technologies and products serve ocean renewables development will present at Oceantic’s annual conference, taking place April 28 – May 1 in Virginia Beach, Va.
As demand for energy surges, new solutions are needed to lower costs, increase efficiency, and open new paths to energy generation, especially along our nation’s coasts where other energy sources aren’t available. Startup Alley gives businesses the opportunity to showcase their innovations and directly connect with industry leaders and stakeholders at the largest offshore renewable energy conference in the Americas.
“Meeting our nation’s growing energy demands require we take advantage of all available energy sources, and offshore wind energy has already proven its ability to drive significant job creation, economic development, and investment to communities across the U.S.,” said Liz Burdock, CEO of Oceantic Network. “As we continue to develop offshore renewable energy along our nation’s coasts, it’s critical that we continue to share expertise and look for new innovations to solve problems and drive down consumer costs. I’m excited to spotlight these companies’ innovative solutions as the industry gathers in Virginia Beach this April.”
For the fourth year, Oceantic and SeaAhead have partnered to select the promising startups within the global offshore renewable energy industry. This year’s cohorts range from data collection and unmanned operations to anchoring devices and entirely new generator designs that will create power from ocean currents. The 2025 Startup Alley Participants are:
- Coastal Measures (Durham, N.H.)
Provides solutions to reduce cost and improve efficiency of offshore data collection and analysis - Crewless Marine (Warren, R.I.)
Equips unmanned platforms with underwater acoustic monitoring capabilities
- Deep Anchor Solutions (Houston, Texas)
Pioneered a deeply embedded ring anchor (DERA) for floating offshore wind
- Equinox Ocean Turbines (Leeuwarden, Netherlands)
Creating a new turbine design that harnesses the power of ocean currents
- MMSeas (Virginia Beach, Va.)
Streamlines the process of obtaining Coast Guard licenses
- Orpheus Ocean (New Bedford, Mass.)
Uses a fleet of autonomous vehicles to streamline seafloor data collection
Each company will showcase their work on the Exhibit Floor and present their pitch to IPF participants at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, April 29, and Wednesday, April 30.
“Startups play a vital role in bringing innovative technology to the ocean renewable energy sector,” said Nadir Ait-Laoussine, vice president, platform & programs at SeaAhead. “We are delighted to continue our partnership with Oceantic Network and bring forward this year’s group of startups which address some of the industry’s most pressing challenges in areas including ocean sensing and monitoring, ocean data and AI applications, infrastructure, and workforce development. Startup Alley offers an exceptional platform for these businesses to meet industry stakeholders, build collaborations and drive forward their commercialization.
