BALTIMORE — Oceantic Network, the leading organization working to advance offshore wind and other ocean renewable industries and their supply chains, will host its annual OSW O&M/Health & Safety Summit beginning Thursday, January 18 in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The two-day Summit, sponsored by Dominion Energy, the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, and the Virginia Beach Department of Economic Development, will address the most pressing operations and maintenance, and health and safety topics facing the growing U.S. offshore wind industry. Kevin Sligh, Director of the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement, will deliver keynote remarks.
“As the offshore wind industry continues to mature, it is critical that its support systems are strong across the industry,” said Liz Burdock, founder and CEO of Oceantic Network. “We now have two projects delivering power to the grid and several more that will see steel in the water over the next several years. As development accelerates, the industry must answer key questions about safety and standardization to ensure efficient and safe operations into the future.”
The Summit will feature speakers and panel discussions on topics such as incident reporting, data and modeling strategies, and emergency response plans. Speakers represent a range of companies and government agencies working in the areas of offshore O&M and health and safety, including HeliService USA, the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, the U.S. Coast Guard, and more.
