Offshore wind energy is helping meet America’s increasing energy demand and deliver national energy security.

AI and new data centers, expanding cities, and business demand, in addition to the proliferation of electric vehicles and electrification across industries, will lead to substantially higher electricity demand. An all-of-the-above energy approach is required as no single energy source can meet the projected demand curve.
More than half of North America faces a risk of energy shortfalls in the next five to 10 years as demand increases and generator retirements threaten resource adequacy, according to the North American Electric Reliability Corporation. American-made energy such as offshore wind strengthens our competitive global manufacturing position against China and reduces dependence and price volatility of foreign energy.
Offshore wind energy is particularly well-positioned to deliver power to the places it’s needed most: along our country’s coasts and in the Great Lakes region. According to the Department of Energy, nearly 80% of the American population lives in these areas, which are prime territory for offshore wind development.
