BALTIMORE – The Oceantic Network, the leading organization dedicated solely to the advancement of the offshore wind renewable energy industry and its supply chain, will host the OSW Port & Vessel Summit in New Orleans on Thursday, September 21, and Friday, September 22. The two-day Summit will cover the maritime business opportunities and challenges rapidly unfolding in the U.S. offshore wind market as the industry works to meet ambitious national and state-level energy goals. Session topics include:
- Attracting Private Infrastructure Capital into Offshore Wind Port Development
- Carbon Neutral Alternatives for the Offshore Wind Fleet
- The Potential of Unmanned Surface Vessels in Offshore Wind: Reducing Cost, Carbon, and Risk
- And more!
Ports and vessels are the backbone of the U.S. offshore wind industry. Understanding the improvements needed for the nation’s port infrastructure, as well as ensuring the availability and capacity of vessels, will be critical over the next decade as more turbines are installed in U.S. waters. As the pipeline of projects continues to grow, the industry needs to come together to determine logistics to affordably and efficiently receive, transport, hold, and install turbine components.
“From the beginning, a lack of ports and vessels to support the offshore wind industry has been a consistent bottleneck to further development,” said Liz Burdock, president and CEO of the Oceantic Network. “The OSW Port & Vessel Summit allows us to foster connections with the nation’s top ports and shipbuilders to meet our collective challenges and build an enduring offshore wind market. We’re particularly excited to bring the Summit to the Gulf Coast, a region with decades of maritime and offshore energy experience.”
