Baltimore – The Oceantic Network’s 2020 International Partnering Forum (IPF) will take place this week, August 18 – 20. The three-day event includes the first ever national job fair, two days of Livestream sessions, a virtual Exhibit Hall, Poster Sessions, and a happy hour. Attendees will hear from Maine, New Jersey, Rhode Island, and Virginia governors as well as leading offshore wind developers. The Livestreams will tackle job and workforce development and the future of U.S. offshore wind.
The conference kicks-off today, Tuesday 18, with the CareerMatch Job Fair, featuring companies including Avangrid, BOEM, Dominion Energy, MHI Vestas, Siemens Gamesa, and more. Then on Wednesday, the Virtual Exhibit Hall and Poster Sessions open followed by IPF Livestream: Jobs & Workforce, starting with a welcome from the IPF host sponsor State of Rhode Island: Governor Gina Raimondo, Secretary of Commerce Stefan Pryor, and U.S. Senator Jack Reed. Attendees will hear updates from Ørsted in On Point with Thomas Brostrøm and the Developer Town Hall. Attendees will then hear from panels about jobs and working during the Secondary Steel panel, OSW jobs after COVID-19, and special message from Governor Janet Mills of Maine.
The offshore wind industry is the energy industry of the future. Its potential is limitless,” says Liz Burdock, president and CEO of the Oceantic Network. “This year’s IPF delves into what that means from the ever-advancing technology as well as partnerships and government support that indicate the U.S. in particular has just cracked the surface of a booming blue economy.”
Thursday will host the final day of the virtual exhibit hall and IPF Livestream: Future of U.S. OSW. Sessions include a one-on-one interview with MHI Vestas, remarks from WindEurope, a panel discussion on CVOW lessons learned with project developers and moderated by Boston Globe’s Jon Chesto, followed by a discussion on large-scale grid integration. New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy and Virginia Governor Ralph Northam will share messages about offshore wind in their states and the final Developer Town Fall with Equinor.
The 2020 IPF successfully transitioned to a summer Livestream Series in April, hosting five half-day events focused on the latest developments, reports, and projects in the offshore wind industry. Topics ranged from the first Jones Act guidance released in nine years, details on the New York and New Jersey solicitation announcements, the first-ever U.S. SOV, Vineyard SEIS, On Point Interviews with industry CEOs and leaders, details on how the new White House announcement restricting new work visas effects the industry, and Developer Town Halls with Dominion Energy, Vineyard Wind, Atlantic Shores and more.
“IPF quickly pivoted to ensure attendees have ample virtual networking opportunities, from WindMatch, Livestream video chat rooms, and exhibit booth chats, as well as sessions focused on breaking industry news, developments and technology,” added Burdock. “IPF has always been a platform for special industry announcements and IPF Livestream sessions –including those this week—will be no different.”
