Rideshare and Taxis:
Rideshare services in Manhattan offer a convenient and flexible transportation option for both residents and visitors alike. Companies like Uber and Lyft operate throughout the city, making it easy to get around. Rideshare costs in Manhattan can vary based on factors like the time of day, traffic, and the type of ride you choose. On average, a standard ride might cost anywhere from $10 to $30 for short trips (under 3 miles) or $40 to $70 for longer trips, like heading to or from one of the airports. Taxi service in Manhattan is readily available 24/7, providing a reliable and iconic way to get around the city, whether you’re heading to IPF, a show, or the airport!

Taxi fares in Manhattan are generally straightforward, with a base fare and additional charges based on distance and time. Here’s a breakdown of typical taxi fares:

Base Fare:
The base fare for a yellow taxi in Manhattan is $2.50 when you enter the taxi.

Per Mile Charge:
After the first 1/5 mile, you’ll pay $0.50 per 1/5 mile or every 60 seconds of idle time (whichever is greater).

Additional Fees:

  • Peak Hour Surcharge: An additional $1.00 is added for trips between 4 PM and 8 PM on weekdays.
  • Tolls: If your ride goes through tolls (like bridges or tunnels), those are added to the fare.
  • Airport Surcharge: For rides to or from the airports (JFK, LaGuardia, and Newark), expect a $5.50 surcharge

Typical Costs:

  • Short trips within Manhattan (around 1–2 miles) usually cost between $10 to $15, depending on traffic.
  • Longer trips, like from Manhattan to JFK, can cost around $60 to $70 (plus tolls and tips).

Taxi fares are metered, and most drivers expect a tip of around 15-20% of the fare. You can also pay with cash or via credit card.
