Nancy Kirshner-Rodriguez joined Oceantic Network in 2018 as the organization’s Western Director. She currently serves as Senior Director for Policy & Outreach and lead for the Western U.S. states, focusing on policy priorities and western expansion and partnerships. Nancy also leads topical working groups including Ports and Vessels, serves as a liaison to union labor partners, works with the West Coast Supplier Council, and Washington Maritime Blue on the Blue Wind initiative.
Nancy has lived in California for close to 25 years after a career in Washington DC that included leadership roles during the Clinton Administration at the U.S. Department of Labor and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. In California, she has served as Director of Government Affairs for the City and County of San Francisco under then Mayor, now Governor Newsom, and as Executive Director of the California Commission on the Status of Women and Girls. She applies her extensive experience in local and regional planning, environment, energy, housing, infrastructure, and transportation policy development to support the growth of the offshore wind industry and its domestic supply chain
A committed civic leader, Nancy serves as Chair of the Marin School of Environmental Leadership Board as a Director for JVS:Together we Work. Maintaining her passion for achieving equity in our public institutions, she is on the National Advisory Board for Emerge America, and in 2022, she was honored with the Barbara Yaroslavsky Civic Leadership Award by the Jewish Public Affairs Council.
A graduate of Mount Holyoke College with a B.A. in Politics, Nancy received the Alumnae Medal of Honor in recognition of her years of service to the institution. She resides in San Rafael, California with her husband Sam, dog Kona, and daughter Kira when she’s home on break from college at Brandeis University. Nancy loves to travel and has been to 42 states and counting.
