John Crye is Oceantic’s Senior Advisor to the President/CEO, joining in 2024. He supports the CEO in policy, strategic, and operational activities, focusing on offshore wind and ocean renewables.
With over seven years of experience in environmental sustainability and climate mitigation, John brings a unique blend of policy expertise, research skills, and industry knowledge to the role. His background spans policy development, project management, and stakeholder engagement in clean energy and offshore wind.
Before joining Oceantic, John worked as a Ship Broker, where he gained valuable experience in the maritime industry. He also played a key role in launching an innovative biomaterials company, where he directed commercial operations and oversaw the launch of a 15,500 sq. ft. production facility.
John’s academic experience includes serving as a Graduate Assistant at the University of Maryland School of Public Policy and interning with the Oceantic Network, where he contributed to Supply Chain Connect and the Offshore Wind Roadmap Report.
John holds a Master of Public Policy with an environmental specialization from the University of Maryland and a B.S. in Business Administration from The Citadel. He is fluent in Spanish. He is passionate about climate science, policy, and justice, and has advanced skills in data analysis, policy writing, and research methodologies.
