    • Bayou Lafourche Port & Offshore Training Tour

All tours are included with your IPF registration, but have limited capacity. Tours are first come, first served. Once tours are filled, you can add your name to the waitlist. Add a tour to your cart during the registration process.

Travel south into Bayou Lafourche to witness one of Louisiana’s busiest ports in action and stop by the training center and offices of a global energy company to see how both groups are meeting the needs of the offshore wind industry in the Gulf of Mexico and beyond.

You will begin with a two-and-a-half-hour drive (coffee and snacks are provided on the bus) to the first stop at Port Fourchon. Enjoy coffee and small bites as staff share an overview of the port. This 1,300-acre port plays a critical role in serving the Gulf of Mexico’s deepwater offshore energy production and is also in the process of developing Fourchon Island, a new project aimed at positioning the port as a hub for offshore wind production. As they say at the port, “ready today, ready for tomorrow.” Explore port infrastructure, learn about upcoming port projects, and catch a glimpse of Louisiana wildlife, including Roseate Spoonbills and dolphins.

The tour will continue with a traditional Cajun lunch at Grand Isle Shipyard’s (GIS) facility in Galliano, which is also home to its Industrial Training Education Center (ITEC). GIS employs over 3,000 people nationwide to provide offshore and onshore energy solutions encompassing survey, fabrication, construction, installation, and maintenance for developers and Tier 1 contractors in the U.S. The company’s state-of-the-art training center, ITEC, offers over 100 courses — including some custom-tailored for clients — and is accredited by numerous organizations recognized by the oil industry. Attendees will go on an interactive, “hands free” tour of the facility, observe live training sessions, and experience GIS’s state-of-the-art training equipment and simulations, including a demonstration of the company’s drone capabilities.

      Additional details:

This tour will depart from the Convention Center at 6:45 a.m. and return by 4:30 p.m. Lunch will include jambalaya or gumbo with bread, fried shrimp po’boy sandwiches and an alternative salad or sandwich option.

      Overview:

      – Visit Port Fourchon

      – Visit Grand Isle Shipyard (GIS)

      – Begin and end at Convention Center

    • Morgan City’s Offshore Expertise Tour: From Ports to Shipbuilding

All tours are included with your IPF registration, but have limited capacity. Tours are first come, first served. Once tours are filled, you can add your name to the waitlist. Add a tour to your cart during the registration process.

An hour and a half west of New Orleans sits Morgan City, a small city on the banks of the Atchafalaya River that is home to one of Louisiana’s active ports and a number of innovators in the offshore industry. Join us for a tour that begins with the Port of Morgan City and continues with visits to the local offices of Intermoor, Oceaneering, and Metal Shark Boats.

The Port of Morgan City offers a multi-modal transportation network, including waterway access in four directions. The port is currently expanding its dock, which will yield 1,900 feet of waterfront, over 35 acres of storage and laydown area, and a 20,000-square-foot warehouse.

At InterMoor — an Acteon company and global provider of mooring, foundations, and subsea services — visitors will observe the capabilities of InterMoor’s Morgan City facility, which combined with the company’s facility at Fourchon, totals 59 acres and includes substantial craneage and bulkhead. InterMoor has steel rolling and fabrication capabilities, logistic and assembly services, and mooring line, anchor, and electrical cable storage and staging sites for offshore wind. The tour will continue to Oceaneering’s nearby offices where the engineering company will show how it uses cutting-edge technology and innovation to deliver solutions for the offshore wind market. Specifically, the tour will showcase Oceaneering’s range of software capabilities as well as its advanced remote operated vehicles, autonomous underwater vehicle, and uncrewed surface vessel. Attendees will also receive lunch at this stop.

A visit to one of Metal Shark Boats’ two South Louisiana shipyards will round out the tour. The designer and builder of more than 500 custom vessels currently has three Crew Transfer Vessels (CTVs) under construction. And at its Alabama shipyard, they recently completed a crew boat conversion to work in the offshore wind sector. Two of Metal Shark Boat’s 30-meter CTVs under construction will be on display for tour attendees.

      Additional Details:

This tour will depart from the Convention Center at 7 a.m. and return by 5 p.m. Coffee and snacks will be provided at the first stop, and lunch will be served at Oceaneering.

    • Offshore Wind Compliance Recommended Practice Documents Overview Sessions

You do not have to be registered for 2024 IPF to attend the Offshore Wind Compliance Recommended Practice Documents Overview Session. If you are not attending IPF, but would like to attend the workshop, contact Julia Gerringer, Grants & Contracts Manager with Oceantic Network.

It is critical that companies and organizations working in the U.S. offshore wind market understand the developing U.S. offshore wind compliance standards. Join the industry leaders of the National Offshore Wind Standards Initiative to learn about the developing national offshore wind recommend practices and the objectives of the initiative.

A session will be held for each of the five recommended practice documents to illustrate their importance, significance, and how each document can be utilized. The five documents are:

      – Offshore Compliance Recommended Practices (OCRP), Edition 2 (Approved)

      – U.S. Floating Wind Systems Recommended Practices

      – U.S. Offshore Wind Metocean Conditions Characterization

      – U.S. Recommended Practices for Geotechnical and Geophysical Investigations and Design

      – U.S. Recommended Practices for Submarine Cables

These guidance documents will be ANSI approved, allowing the regulators to use them to review projects and clarify regulatory compliance. The documents consider the unique offshore conditions on the U.S. outer continental shelf (OCS) and state waterways (e.g., Great Lakes). They provide guidance for offshore wind projects, covering a range of project implementation activities, including project design, construction and deployment practices, operation, safety, and decommissioning, while anticipating the new and evolving nature of offshore wind technology.
